Welcome to Rock Music Critic! Check out reviews in the Flash menu above or the static links below. This latest version of the site now includes reviews with an embedded music player so you can listen to whole albums once for free courtesy of Lala.com. Lala doesn't always have an album, but when they do I will include the player. What's easier than listening to an album to decide whether you like it? Feel free to ignore my petty ramblings and just listen to the tunes. That's really the whole point anyway. Up the Irons!! ~ George

Made of Iron
Made of Iron

Made of Iron is a German and Greek true metal band. I like their sound; however I have to wonder about their intent. Their lyrics take a very Christian stance that I don't particularly care for. Though, this could merely be some sort of Crusades concept of the album. I'm undecided yet which it might be.

So for the moment I will just pretend they are regular non-theological metal. I'm pretty into this. They play an older style of metal without sounding outdated, and they don't really remind me of any other true/power bands either. So this sounds somewhat fresh.

They are certainly more True than Power, there are no huge gang chorus chants going on here. It's just straight up metal with clean vocals, but not all whiney clean. The singer is no Bruce Dickinson, but there probably is an Iron Maiden influence here. Upon further listening, I must say there is a very definite Maiden influence.

Wearing these superior headphones it is difficult for me to tell what the production is actually like. I will have to get acclimated to the new phones before I can make true judgements. I will say that if you sound bad in these phones (Bose Quiet Comfort 2) then your production must really suck. That is not the case here, this production sounds just fine.

This is their first album, and for a first album it sounds pretty good. I'd like to hear more from them in the future. I think with a little more experience these guys could put out a killer follow-up.
